It's going the distance.
The Edmonton SSAC Athletics have forced a Game 5 in a best-of-five Alberta Midget Hockey League Dodge Division quarterfinal against the Grance Peace Athletic Club Ernie's Sports Experts Storm.
The Athletics defeated the Storm 4-2 in Edmonton on Sunday afternoon in Game 4 setting up a series-deciding fifth game in the Coca-Cola Centre on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
The Storm got off to the start they wanted when Sheldon Kwiatowski scored just 31 seconds into the game to give GP a 1-0 lead.
SSAC got that one back when Stuart Dovey scored at 9:41 to even it at ones.
The Athletics did all the scoring in the second.
Ryan Hiscock made it 2-1 at 3:27 and Ross Encarnacao netted the eventual game-winner at 6:38 to make it 3-1.
When Grande Prairie's Austyn Hansen scored at 15:11 of the third to make it 3-2, the Athletics were no doubt flashing back to the previous day when the Storm scored twice in the third to claim victory in Game 3.
But, there were no late-game GP heroics on this day as Dante Pietrarca salted it away at 17:35 of the third to make it 4-2 and pretty much ensure a Game 5 back in GP.
Cam Beson got his fourth start turning aside 28 shots in the Storm net while Ryley Osland at the other end faced the same number, with half of those coming in the third period.
The Storm took eight minors and the Athletics six.
Sunday's game was the third in three days between the two.
The Storm had won 4-2 on Friday and 3-2 on Saturday after losing the opener 2-1 in Grande Prairie last Wednesday.
Grande Prairie is the Dodge Division playoff third seed after finishing the regular season with a 17-13-4 record and 38 points. SSAC was sixth in the Dodge with 28 points and a 13-19-2 record.
Waiting in the wings are the 1-2 teams that got a first-round bye.
The division champion St. Albert Raiders will play the team with the fewest regular season points advancing from the quarterfinals while the second place Fort Saskatchewan Raiders will play the team advancing that had the most regular season points.
In the other Dodge Division quarterfinal Edmonton CAC defeated the Sherwood Park Kings 4-3 on Sunday and won that best-of-five playoff 3-1.
