 Lookout Carter Berg, Brett Friesen is breathing down your neck!

After a three-point performance on Sunday, the 17-year-old Friesen has moved to within two points of Berg in the defenceman scoring race with the Grande Peace Athletic Club Peaceland Directional Drilling Midget AA Storm.

The points outbreak came in a 5-2 win over the Peace River Royals and gives Friesen 17 points on the season with six goals and 11 helpers while Berg has 19 on 6-13.

The 5-foot-10 Friesen has played in 26 games helping Peaceland to an 11-12-3 record in third place in the Bouchier Division of the Northern Alberta Midget AA Hockey League.

Tanner Davy also had himself a good game against the Royals with a goal and two helpers as well while Tanner Vinck, Caile Menard and Isaac Wagner also had goals.  Rylan Labrie made 29 saves for the win.

PDD hits the road for games against Edmonton SSAC and the Sturgeon Sting this weekend.

They take part in a regional playoff tournament against Peace River, Whitecourt and Fort McMurray in March with the winner advancing along the NAMAAHL playoff trail.

The Ernie's Sports Experts Midget AAA Storm lost a pair on the weekend - 4-1 in Calgary to the Buffalos on Saturday and 5-4 to the Bisons in Airdrie on Sunday - but are in the thick of the playoff hunt.

They sit in fourth in their division that allows the top six teams in. With two regular season games remaining they could still finish as high as a tie for second place.

Jayden Watson scored the goal Saturday and AP player Terris Lappenbush made 31 saves while on Sunday Sheldon Kwiatkowski and Nolan Flint had two each and Cam Beson made 33 saves.

ESE winds up its regular season schedule with a road game Saturday in Edmonton against MLAC and then Sunday at him in the Crosslink Country Sportsplex at 3 p.m.

The Golden Arrow Bantam AAA Storm had a good one Saturday - a 4-3 win over the visiting Leduc Oil KIngs - and then a not-so-good-one Sunday losing 6-1 to the same team.

Lucas Schuett had two and Steel Burke and Simon Hamilton singles in the win while Connor Stojan stopped 23 shots. Sunday Burke had the goal and Stojan and Vaughn Kaliel combined to make 50 saves.

GA is out of the playoffs in fifth place with eight points in their division in the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League. They hit the road for three this weekend starting Friday - Fort Saskatchewan Rangers, then the St. Albert Sabres finishing up with the PAC Saints.

The Boston Pizza U16 Storm were idle in league play on the weekend.

They are ninth in their division in the Alberta Minor Midget Hockey League with five games remaining and a chance to finish as high as seventh.

The top eight in the division advance to a two-pool North Division playoff with the top three from that advancing to the championship final tournament.

This weekend they play a pair in Edmonton - Saturday against CAC and Sunday MLAC.

The two GPAC teams in the Edmonton Rural Bantam AA Hockey League battled each other on Saturday and again the Dreger Racing Team Storm came out on top over the Hitch 'Em Oilfield Hauling Storm. This time it was 6-1.

Carter Kreller had two and Trey Stephenson, Jett Fogle, Ethan Taylor and Brandon Brickner singles for DRT while Derek Sparks made 18 saves. Nicholas Bacon had the Hitch 'Em goal and Brennan Horcoff made 29 saves.

Hitch 'Em also played Sunday falling 3-1 to the Sabres in Peace River. Daimen Switzer got the goal and Nathan Crawley made 43 saves.

Dreger hosts Peace River at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Clairmont and then heads west to visit the Canucks on Saturday while Hitch 'Em hosts PR on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. in Clairmont and DC at 3 p.m. in the Dave Barr Arena.

Dreger sits third with 34 points and Hitch 'Em fifth with eight points in the Black Division.
