Olen Nordhagen says Jonathan Toews is his favourite hockey player.

Saturday night the 13-year-old Beaverlodge native was definitely Toews-like in a game against the Dawson Creek Canucks in Clairmont.

Nordhagen, who stands 5-foot-8 and weighs 150 pounds, scored three goals and added two assists to help his team, the Grande Peace Athletic Club Dreger Racing Team Storm to a 12-2 win over the boys from B.C.

The offensive output gives Nordhagen, a Hythe Regional Hight School Student, 14 points on nine goals and five helpers 17 games into the Edmonton Rural Bantam AA High League schedule.

Some other Dreger players weren’t too shabby also on Saturday.

Deizel Leet had three goals and an assist; Carter Krellar two goals; and Hayden Schultz, Spencer Rheaume, Evan Wagner and Trey Stephenson singles. Derek Sparks made 16 saves in net.

On Sunday the Dreger team travelled to Peace River to take on the Sabres and battled to a 3-3 draw. Rheaume, Brody West and Kyle Maloney had goals in that game while Ethan Barron made 25 stops between the pipes.

Dreger, in third in the Black Division of the ERBAAHL, visit the Strathcona Warriors and Beaumont Braves in games this coming weekend.

The other GPAC team in the ERBAAHL, the Hitch ‘Em Oilfield Hauling Storm, had an 0-2 weekend in Fort McMurray against the Barons falling 7-1 on Saturday and 10-2 Sunday.

Morgan Brady scored the lone goal Saturday while Nathan Crawley made 37 saves while Sunday Nicholas Barclay and Devon Barclay got the goal and Crawley and Brennan Horcoff combined to make 40 saves.

Hitch ‘Em, in fourth in the Black Divison with seven points, travel to DC to take on the Canucks on Sunday.

The GPAC Midget AAA Club, the Ernie’s Sports Experts Storm, also fell twice on the weekend and have dropped to third place in their division behind the Fort Saskatchewan Rangers (32 points) and the St. Albert Raiders (30) with 28 points in the Alberta Midget Hockey League.

Saturday ESE dropped a 4-0 decision to the Rangers in the Edmonton-area city. They were down 2-0 after one and 3-0 after two periods. Cameron Beson made 34 saves in the GP net.

On Sunday it was a close one - a 2-1 loss to the Sherwood Park Kings with Edge Lambert getting the lone GP goal and Beson stopping 26 shots.

The Ernie’s team host the Leduc Oil Kings at 2:30 p.m. Saturday and the Raiders at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in games in the Coke Can.

The Golden Arrow Storm of the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League dropped a pair too on the weekend falling twice to the Bobcats in Lloydminster - 7-2 Saturday and 5-1 Sunday.

Tyson Bochan and Rhys Doyle scored Saturday and Kaliel Vuaghn made 45 saves while Sunday Evyn Hansen had the goal and Connor Stojan made 49 saves.

GA hosts the Bobcats twice this weekend - 7 p.m. in Clairmont on Saturday and 10 a.m. in the Coke Can on Sunday.

They sit in fifth in the North Division with three points.

The GPAC Peaceland Directional Drilling Storm of the Northern Alberta Midget AAA Hockey League hosted the Whitecourt Wolverines on Sunday and downed the visitors 4-1 with Tanner Davy leading the way with three goals. Tanner Vinck also had a goal and Lee Lappenbush made 23 saves for PDD.

Peaceland sits fourth in the Bouchier Division with 15 points. They have two games this weekend - 4:30 p.m. Saturday in Clairmont against the Lloydminster Blazers and Sunday in Fort St. John against NEBC.

The GPAC Boston Pizza Storm of the Alberta Minor Midget Hockey League were off on the weekend, but had to Lloyd to take on the Bobcats Saturday and Sunday.
