KWIATKOWSKI NETS A PAIR

The Grande Peace Athletic Club Ernie's Sports Experts Storm are just a point out of first place in the Dodge Division of the Alberta Midget Hockey League.

And a big part of the team's first half success has been forward Sheldon Kwiatkowski.

The 6-foot-1, 180 pound Charles Spencer High School student is second on the team in scoring with 10 goals and 16 assists for 26 points.

Two of those goals and one helper came on Saturday when the Storm downed the visiting Calgary Royals 5-1.

The win, the only weekend game for ESE, was the team's 10th in 21 games and moves them just a point behind the Fort Saskatchewan Rangers in the AMHL's Dodge Division.

Edge Lambert, who leads the team with 27 points (17-10) also had a goal as did Nolan Flint and Mason Hartman. Cam Beeson made 32 saves.

The Boston Pizza U16 Storm played a pair on the weekend losing twice to the Calgary Stampeders.

The southern club defeated BP 5-4 on Saturday and 7-4 on Sunday.

Chase Jonzon, Auzyn Corr, Denon Bamber and Landon Hedges scored on Saturday and Terris Lappenbush made 54 saves while on Sunday Corr, Jonzon, Hedges and Tye Evans had the goals and Lappenbush (25) and Eric Shultz (21) combined to make 45 saves.

BP sits in seventh in the North Division of the Alberta Minor Midget AAA Hockey League with 13 points on five wins and three ties.

GPAC's Peaceland Directional Drilling Storm grabbed three of a possible four points on the weekend after a 4-3 tie with the Peace River Royals on Saturday and then a 3-1 win over the Whitecourt Wolverines on Sunday.

Keaton Mercredi and Jace Brant had two goals each and Lee Lappenbush made 21 saves against Peace River while on Sunday Grant had a goal as did Brody Thomson and Brett Friesen and Rylan Labrie made 25 saves.

PDD sits in fifth place in the Bouchier Division of the Northern Alberta Midget AA Hockey League with 11 points.

The Dreger Racing Team Storm had a couple of wins in Edmonton Rural Bantam AA Hockey League action.

On Friday DRT downed the Dawson Creek Canucks 6-1 and then on Saturday topped the Fort McMurray Barons 5-1.

Olen Nordhagen had two goals and Brody West, Deizel Leet, Evan Wagner and Etan Taylor singles on Friday and Derek Sparks got the win in goal while on Saturday West had two and Trey Stephenson, Ryan St. Germaine and Kyle Maloney singles and Etan Barron got the win in net.

Dreger is in third place in the Black Division with 16 points.

The other GPAC ERBAAHL team, the Hitch 'Em Oilfield Storm lost twice - 8-4 to the Peace River Sabres on Saturday and 6-4 to the Barons on Sunday.

In Peace River Morgan Brady had two goals and Patrick Green and Devon Barclay singles and Nathan Crawley made 26 saves while on Sunday Nicholas  Bacon, Ashton Pelletier, Jaxon Boucher and Devin Johnson had a goal each and Brennan Horcoff made 42 stops in the loss to the Barons.

Hitch 'Em is in fourth place in the Black Division with seven points.
