PEACELAND WINS CLOSE ONE

Dec. 03, 2018

Players are often graded on how many points they get - good players are measured on when they get those points.

On the weekend Tanner Vinck of the Grande Peace Athletic Club Peaceland Directional Drilling Storm was a good player. He got three points, two goals and an assist, in a close game against the visiting St. Albert Blues on Sunday in the Crosslink County Sportsplex in Clairmont.

Thanks in big part to Vinck’s effort the Northern Alberta Midget AA Hockey League team skated to a 4-3 win and now have eight points in fifth place in the Bouchier Division of the NAMAAHL.

Keaton Mercredi and Carter Berg also contributed goals while Rylan Labrie made 28 stops in net for PDD.

In Alberta Midget Hockey League play on the road the GPAC Ernie’s Sports Experts Storm got three of a possible four points.

They started Saturday with a 4-2 win over the Okotoks Oilers. Edge Lambert led the way with three goals and an assist while Nolan Flint had one tally. McCoy Bidewell was between the pipes and made 25 saves.

On Sunday ESE rolled into Red Deer and drove off with a point after a 3-3 tie with the Optimist Chiefs.

Hudson Foley had a pair on that game and Mason Hartman a single. Cam Beeson was in goal and looked at 32 shots - including 17 in the third period.

Ernie’s sits in second place in the Dodge Division of the AMHL with 22 points on nine wins, seven losses and four ties.

It was a tough weekend for the GPAC Golden Arrow Storm. They were outscored 22-4 in two home games against the Fort Saskatchewan Rangers  -  11-4 on Saturday and 11-0 on Sunday.

Simon Hamilton had three goals and Rhys Doyle one and Connor Stojan made 43 saves on Saturday in Clairmont while on Sunday Stojan and Vaugh Kaliel combined to make 49 saves.

GA is in fifth in the Charger Division of the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League with three points - 23 back of the first place Rangers.

It was another bragging rights came in the Edmonton Rural Bantam AA League on Saturday and again the Dreger Racing Team Storm came out on top over the Hitch ‘Em Oilfield Hauling Storm.

Brandan Wabick, Trey Stephenson, Etan Taylor and Brody West scored for the winners while Derek Staples did the netminding. Devan Barclay, Jaxon Boucher and Josiah Vrabic scored for Hitch ‘Em and Brennan Horcoff tended the pipes.

Dreger sits in third in the Black Divison with 12 points and Hitch ‘Em is fourth with seven.

The Boston Pizza Storm of the Alberta Minor Midget Hockey League were idle on the weekend.
