Heading into a pair of games down south, the Grande Peace Athletic Club Ernie's Sports Experts Storm are in a good playoff position as the Alberta Midget Hockey League schedule hits its half-way point.

Ernie's sits in second in the Dodge Division of the AMHL with 19 points (8-7-3), are second in scoring in the division with 61 goals and are one of the best defensively allowing just 56 goals in 18 games.

Saturday ESE takes on the Oilers in Okotoks and then Sunday head north to take on the Optimist Chiefs in Red Deer.

The GPAC Bantam AAA Golden Arrow Storm are in a situation where they have to win the majority of their remaining games in hopes of getting a playoff sniff.

Two home games could be just what the doctor ordered for the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League team.

GA hosts the Fort Saskatchewan Rangers in games Saturday at :30 p.m. and Sunday at 10 a.m. in the Crosslink County Sportsplex in Clairmont.

The GP club has one win and a tie in 16 games and sits in fifth in the Charger North with three points - 21 back of the Rangers in second.

The Grande Prairie Boston Pizza U16 Storm, of the Alberta Minor Midget AAA Hockey League, get the weekend off.

Peaceland Direction Drilling Storm have a single game this weekend in Northern Alberta Midget AA Hockey League action.

PDD, fifth in the Bouchier Division, host the  St. Albert Blues in Clairmont at12:30 p.m. Sunday.

GPAC's Edmonton Rural Bantam AA Hockey League teams - Dreger Racing Team Storm and Hitch 'Em Oilfield Hauling Storm - play each other Saturday at 2 p.m. in Clairmont on their only weekend action.

Dreger is third with 10 points and Hitch 'Em seven points in their division.
