BANTAM AAA IN SEARCH OF WIN

Nov. 23, 2018

When the Grande Peace Athletic Club Golden Arrow Bantam AAA Storm coaches look down the bench for a player who will help them get out of nine-game winless slump they will no doubt be glancing at Carter Hensch.

At 5-foot-4 and 110 pounds the 13-year-old is one of the smallest players in the Alberta Bantam Hockey League, but that hasn't stopped him from putting up some decent numbers.

Hensch, a student at Charles Spencer High School, leads the GA team with two goals and seven assists in 14 games looking to improve on that win games Saturday in Edmonton against the K of C Squires and Sunday in Leduc against the Oil Kings.

Golden Arrow has three points with a win and a tie and 12 losses. The win came on Oct. 13th. It is their first action in two weeks.

The GPAC Ernie's Sports Experts Storm are also on the road . . . much further down the road with games in Lethbridge against the Hurricanes on Saturday and Sunday in Calgary against the Royals.

Edge Lambert continues to lead ESE with 13 goals and six assists in 15 games.

Ernie's sits in second place in the Dodge Division of the Alberta Midget Hockey League with 19 points. The Hurricanes are second in the Chrysler Division with 24 points and the Royals third with 22.

The GPAC Boston Pizza U16 Storm will be taking on a first place North Division team and an 11th place team on the road this weekend in Alberta Minor Midget AAA Hockey League play.

They start with 11th place team, the K of C Centennials on Saturday. That club is winless in 12 tries.

Sunday BP moves to Leduc to take on the first place Oil Kings, who have 24 points. BP is seventh in the North with 11, led by Jaydon Gordey, who has seven goals and 12 helpers in 14 games.

The Peaceland Directional Drilling Storm have just one Northern Alberta Midget AA Hockey League tilt this weekend - on Saturday against the Strathcona Warriors at 2 p.m. in the Crosslink Country Sportsplex in Clairmont.

PDD sit in fifth place in the Bouchier Division with four points and are led by Tanner Davy with nine points.

There are two GPAC teams in the Edmonton Rural Bantam AA Hockey League - Dreger Racing Team Storm and Hitch 'Em Oilfield Hauling Storm.

Dreger hosts the Wainwright Polar Kings at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Sportsplex and then head to Peace River for a game against the Sabres on Sunday.

They are led by Deizel Leet and Spencer Rheaume, who both have 11 points. The team is third in the Black Division with eight points.

Hitch 'Em plays the Canucks in Dawson Creek on Friday and host the Polar Kings Saturday at 12:30 p.m. in Clairmont.

They are fourth in the Black Division with five points and are led by Adam Morrow with five points.
