BIG WEEKEND FOR U16 STORM

The Grande Peace Athletic Club U16 Boston Pizza Storm warmed up with the weather on the weekend.

An impressive 15-goal performance helped the team to two victories on the road and a three-game win streak.

Saturday the Storm downed the Lloydminster Bobcats 6-2 in the border city and then followed that up on the way home Sunday with a 9-6 win over Edmonton KC.

Jayden Gordey let the scoring parade Saturday with three goals and an assist while Chase Jonzon had two goals and an assist and Sheldon Parliament a single tally. Terris Lappenbush faced 37 shots in the GP net.

On Sunday in Edmonton, Tye Evans led the way with five goals while Landon Hedges had two and Jonzon and Mason Kyllo singles. Eric Schultz in the GP net made 20 saves.

Gordey leads the Alberta Minor Midget Hockey League scoring with 13 points on four goals and nine helpers while Jonzon is third (8-3-11), Hedges fifth (6-4-11) and Evans moved into 15th with his big day and now has six goals and an assist.

In Alberta Midget Hockey League play the Ernie's Sports Experts AAA team split on the weekend at home and now have a 2-2-1 record.

Saturday, the Lethbridge Hurricanes downed the Storm 5-3 and Sunday the Storm blanked the Sherwood Park Kings 4-0.

Edge Lambert, Jayden Watson and Hudson Foley scored in the Saturday contest and Cam Beson made 29 saves in net for the Ernie's team. No stats were available from the Sunday game.

The Golden Arrow Bantam AAA Storm also split at home in Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League play in a pair against the Airdrie Xtreme. The Storm won 5-3 Saturday and lost 9-1 on Sunday.

Tyson Buchan had three goals and Levi Pratt a single (the fifth goal scorer was not available) and Connor Stojan made 33 stops in net for Golden Arrow on Saturday.

On Sunday, Steel Burke had the goal and Vaughn Kaliel (13 saves) and Stojan (22 saves) shared the goaltending.

Golden Arrow has a win and five losses in six games so far this year.

GPAC has two teams in the Edmonton Rural Bantam AA Hockey League and they had different results against the same team on the weekend.

At home on Friday the Hitch 'Em Oilfield Hauling Storm fell 2-1 to the Dawson Creek Canucks. Jaxon Boucher had the GP goal in that game and Nathan Crawley made 41 stops in net.

On Sunday in the B.C. city the Dreger Racing Team Storm downed the Canucks 6-2. No scoring details were available.

The Peaceland Directional Drilling Storm were also in action on the weekend in Northern Alberta Midget AA Hockey League action.

They played to a 5-5 home ice draw against the Fort McMurray Barons.

Tanner Davy had three and Isaac Wagner and Keaton Mercredi singles for the Storm while Rylan Labrie made 23 saves in net for GP.
