U16 WEEKEND SPLIT

The Grande Peace Athletic Club (GPAC) Boston Pizza U16 Storm split a two-game set with the Maple Leaf Athletic Club over the weekend on home ice.

The Storm grabbed a 5-2 win on Saturday but MLAC rebounded with a 5-2 win of its own on Sunday morning. Sheldon Kwiatkowski had a strong weekend for himself with four goals. Kwiatkowski netted the elusive natural hat-trick on Saturday and Ethan Mercer potted two himself in the victory. McCoy Bidewell turned aside 36 stops for the win.

Sunday, Kwiatkowski and Ty Toews got the goals for the Storm. Bidewell was between the pipes again. This time he wasn’t so fortunate as he took the loss, stopping 28 shots in 60 minutes of work.

Ernie’s Sports Experts Midget AA A Storm split road trip

The Storm were on the road this past weekend and split a pair of games.

On Saturday the Storm dropped a 4-1 decision to the Kings of Columbus Pats. The club rebounded with a 7-4 win over Canadian Athletic Club on Sunday.

Edge Lambert picked up four points (two goals, two assists) in Sunday’s win. Carter Massier also had a pair of goals in the three-goal win. Ronan Rheaume, Erik Lloyd and Justin Becher had the others.

Lars Kaliel stopped 46 shots to earn the victory.

Tristyn Corliss scored the only goal and Ty Grant turned aside 36 shots in Saturday’s loss.

Peaceland Directional Drilling Storm nab three of four points

The Storm took three of four points this weekend.

On Saturday they picked up a 4-2 win over South Side Athletic Club and shared the spoils with the Knights of Columbus Pats in a 1-1 tie on Sunday. 

Tanner Vinck had two goals while Keaton Mercredi and Daniel Graber scored the others against SSAC. Wyatt Fournier stopped 24 shots in the win.

Cody Quinton picked up the only goal for the Storm and Ben Sigurdson stopped 30 shots in the tie.

Global Bus Lines Bantam AAA Storm go 0-3 on road trip

The Storm went winless on the weekend, dropping games to the Southeast Tigers (3-2), Lethbridge Golden Hawks (8-5) and the Okotoks Oilers (5-2).

Hayden Smith netted a hat-trick in Saturday’s 8-5 loss to Lethbridge. Tyler Buchberger and Landon Hedges also scored. Terris Lappenbush turned aside 27 shots in the loss. 

In the one-goal loss to the Tigers on Friday, Dayne Tews and Jayden Watson scored for the bantam club. Lappenbush got the nod on Friday and stopped 38 shots.

Eric Schultz got the start in net on Sunday and made 33 saves in the loss to the Oilers. Chase Jonzon and Codie Saunders picked up the goals.

Hitch’em Oilfield Hauling Bantam AA Storm split

The Storm split a pair of games this past weekend.

On Saturday they lost 2-1 to the Sturgeon Sting and followed that up with a 4-2 win over Strathcona on Sunday.

Jaydon Gordey had the hot hand with three goals in two games. He scored the lone goal on Saturday and picked up two in Sunday’s win.  Ty Georgeson stopped 33 shots in the loss to Sturgeon.

Connor Stojan got the start on Sunday and turned aside 24 pucks in the win. Mason Kyllo and Braedon Staples also scored in the win over Strathcona.

Midget Female Storm split weekend

The Peace Country Storm AAA midget hockey team dropped a 6-2 decision to the Calgary Fire Red on Saturday but evened out the series with a 2-1 shootout win on Sunday.

Ashley Death had a goal in both games, including the shootout winner on Sunday. Shauna Johnson potted one in the Saturday game and Katiya Sware had the lone regulation goal for the Storm on Sunday. Paige Jassman turned away 31 shots on Saturday and Madison Doucette stopped 37 in regulation, including all three in the shootout to grab the win.
