Tough Weekend For GPAC Teams

 It was a struggle for Grande Peace Athletic Club Storm teams on the weekend.

In Midget AA play, the Peaceland Directional Drilling Midget AA Storm finished with a tie and loss.

Saturday, Tanner Vinck scored twice in a 4-4 tie against the Leduc Roughnecks. Keaton Mercredi and Carter Berg also both scored. Goaltender Ben Sigurdson made 37 saves.

Vinck scored again Sunday, along with Tanner Davy, Clint Lefley and Nathan Derksen in a 6-4 loss against the MLAC Leafs. Goaltender Carson Gnam made 26 saves.

The Storm travel to play the Whitecourt TRAC Wolverines on Oct. 21.

Ernie’s Sports Experts Midget AAA Storm

It was also a tough weekend for the Midget AAA Storm who finished with a loss and tie at home.

Taylor Paulovich scored the Storm’s lone goal in a 7-1 loss against the Calgary Buffaloes at the Crosslink County Sportsplex. Goaltender Lars Kaliel made 53 saves.

Sunday, Bailey Hartman scored in the second period. The Storm and SSAC Boston Pizza Athletics finished tied at 1-1. Kaliel made 25 saves for the Storm.

The Storm host the Calgary Flames and Red Deer Optimist Chiefs on Oct. 21-22 at the Crosslink County Sportsplex.

Global Bus Lines Bantam AAA Storm

A four-game win streak was snapped for the Storm on Sunday.

Tyler Buchberger and Wyatt Day scored in a 3-2 home loss against the Fort Saskatchewan Rangers. Goaltender Terris Lappenbush made 41 saves.

A day earlier, the Storm won 6-3 over the Rangers. Day and Devin Martin led the Storm with two goals each. Jayden Watson and Dayne Tews also scored. Lappenbush made 30 saves.

The Storm next travel to play the Edmonton MLAC and Camrose Red Wings on Oct. 21-22.

GPAC Hitch’em Oilfield Hauling Bantam AA Storm

The bantam AA squad also had their four-game win streak snapped over the weekend with a pair of road losses.

Saturday, Keenan Moberly, Tanner Nyland, Jaydon Gordley scored in a 6-4 loss against the Lloydminster Blazers. Goaltender Tye Georgeson made 31 saves.

Gordey scored twice on Sunday in a 7-2 loss against the Lakeland Panthers. Goaltender Connor Stojan made 35 saves.

Friday, the Storm host the PAC Timberwolves at the Crosslink County Sportsplex. Sunday, the Storm travel to play the Fort St John Flyers.

Boston Pizza U16 Storm

The U16 Storm concluded their weekend with a tie and loss on home ice at the Crosslink County Sportsplex.

Sheldon Kwiatkowski and Ty Toews scored Saturday in a 2-2 tie against the Camrose Red Wings. Goaltender McCoy Bidewell made 20 saves.

Sunday, Toews scored twice in a 7-4 loss against the Red Wings. Aaron Kuhn and Campbell McLean also scored. Bidewell and goaltender Rylan Labrie split time in net.

The Storm travel to play the SSAC United Cycle Bulldogs and St Albert Flyers on Oct. 21-22.

Bonnett’s Energy Bantam Elite Peace Country Storm

The bantam AA female Storm kicked off their season with a win and loss on home ice.

Saturday, Jensyn Wallan, Charlieze Sallis, Jailyn Bablitz and Arilyn Toews scored in a 4-1 victory over the Red Deer Sutter Fund Chiefs. Goaltender Grace Lutz made 29 saves.

Sunday, Toews, Sallis and Bablitz scored again in a 6-5 loss against the Calgary Fire Red. Christina Friesen and Maddy Brazel also scored. Lutz and teammate Chantel Nault split the duties in net.

The Storm embark on a three-game road trip on Oct. 20-22 against the Calgary Fire White, Rocky Mountain Raiders and Lethbridge Cyclones.

Midget Elite Peace Country Storm

The midget AA female Storm also kicked off their season last weekend with a pair of shut outs on home ice.

Saturday, Shauna Johnson and Ashley Death scored in a 2-0 victory against the Edmonton Pandas. Goaltender Madison Doucette made 19 saves.

Johnson scored twice on Sunday and Justine Brady added a goal in a 3-0 win over the Pandas. Goaltender Paige Jassman made 36 saves.

The Storm host the Lloydminster Elite Steelers on Oct. 21-22.
